All my original card-cutting images start with combining different scenes or images to create a sketch, followed by a pencil drawing on dark coloured card. I then cut out selected areas with a scalpel. I choose vibrant fabrics, which add contrasts and bring this otherwise 2-tone image to life. My inspirations are architecture, people, nature or animals, nothing is excluded if it inspires. Subsequent versions of the same design are laser-cut to produce limited editions usually of up to 100. However, the application of fabrics for each one is still done by hand, and will vary for every artwork, making each unique. Another favourite medium is applique and embroidery, which I use for creating more naive-style art.
