Heather Arbon: designer maker of contemporary textile art inspired by the natural world. Both 2D and 3D work, decorative and often functional.

My hedgerow pictures are created using fabric layers, mixed media, paint, free machine embroidery, dried petals and leaves. They may be mounted in a wooden frame, onto a canvas base, or in a transparent acrylic stand.

Signature dragonfly and butterfly brooches in free machine embroidery on soluble fabric. The same technique is used to create autumn leaves mounted for display in a box frame.

Hand dyed, coiled and stitched cotton bowls and pod vessels in vibrant colours.

My silk vessels and lanterns are made from pure silk fibres layered over tissue paper. They look delicate but are surprisingly robust. The large sculptural forms look good unlit but even better in dim light with the battery candle on.
